We are excited to announce the official launch of our new website. It marks a new chapter for Big Front Door, shaped by 18 months of work and a clear decision about where we go next.
We are moving our new website work to Expression, our own platform built on Lovable and hosted on Lovable Cloud. We are also celebrating our official Lovable certification in both web design and apps, and expanding what we offer to include progressive mobile apps.
That is the news in a nutshell. But the important bit is what it means for you: what we can build, how we can help, and what stays exactly the same.
Eighteen months in the making
This has not been a quick change of badge. We have spent 18 months working towards this launch and the shift behind it. Our new website is the public face of that work.
Since 2009, we have been helping businesses get more from the web from our base in Elderslie, Renfrewshire. The tools have changed considerably in that time. Our job has not. We still need to understand your business, make good decisions and build something that people can use without a struggle.
That is how we have approached this move. Not as a reason to replace everything for the sake of it, but as a chance to improve how we deliver new work and broaden the problems we can help solve.
Meet Expression, built on Lovable
Expression is our platform for this next chapter. Built on Lovable, with Lovable Cloud as its hosting foundation, it will be the focus of our new website work going forwards.
For us, a platform should serve the project, not dictate it. A good website starts with clear content, sensible navigation and an understanding of what someone needs to do when they arrive. The technology should support those things.
Expression gives us a new foundation for that work. It also brings our website and app offering closer together, so we can consider the right solution rather than treating every brief as another set of pages.
Sometimes you need a straightforward business website. Sometimes you need a service customers can return to, with useful tasks they can complete on their phone. We want to help you make that distinction before you spend money.
We've already produced dozens of new sites on Expression - and it's been a runaway success.
Officially certified in web design and apps
Alongside the launch, we are pleased to share that we have achieved official Lovable certification in both web design and apps.
It is a milestone worth celebrating after the work that has gone into this change. It recognises our capability in the technology we have chosen to build with.
But a certificate is not the finished job. You still need thoughtful design, careful testing, clear communication and support after launch. Those remain our responsibility. The certification sits alongside that commitment, not in place of it.
We now offer progressive mobile apps
Our expanded offering includes progressive mobile apps, often called progressive web apps or PWAs.
In plain terms, these are web-based applications designed to work well on a phone and, on supported devices, be added to the home screen. They can give people a more app-like experience without necessarily needing a download from an app store.
Depending on the project and device support, they can also include features such as notifications or access to certain content when a connection is unavailable. Those features need to be planned and built. They are not automatic, and support varies between devices and browsers.
When does an app make sense?
An app is worth considering when people have a reason to come back and do something regularly. That could mean:
A customer area for checking information or managing requests.
A membership service with resources people use frequently.
A practical tool for staff working away from a desk.
A booking or repeat-ordering service that makes a familiar task easier.
Not every business needs an app. If a well-built website does the job, we will say so. The point is to remove effort for the people using it, not add another thing for you to manage.
Existing customers: business as usual
If we already look after your website, we will continue to support, patch and maintain it with the same care and attention as always.
Our move to Expression for new work does not change that commitment. Your current website still matters. So do the day-to-day questions, updates and maintenance that keep it working for your business.
This announcement is not a notice that you need to move platforms. There is no need to replace a site simply because our direction for new projects has changed. If a rebuild becomes the right decision, we can discuss it around your needs, timing and budget.
